Travel Skincare Essentials: How I Avoid the Airline Toilet!
Airline toilets are a NIGHTMARE for somebody like me who gets ever-so-slightly paranoid about germs. That reason and that reason alone is why I am very specific on my travel skincare routine, with the ultimate goal of avoiding having to do my skincare routine in the toilet.
I will be flying to Malaysia in a week’s time and since it’s a direct flight it will be a total of 13-14 hours which consists of my day and nighttime routine. By now we all would have likely come across the 100ml liquid & 1 plastic bag airline policy so… how do I fit both my routines without compromising the quality?
Read more to find out how I’ve planned it all out to the T.
I really do not want to be in the airline toilet cleansing my face with the low-pressure tap and small basin, with a potential turbulence right around the corner, to sweep me off my feet and into the toilet bowl...
So, I stick to wipes.
I love these wipes, it has been part of my core makeup list as it doesn’t contain alcohol and will not dry up your skin.
I’ve recently introduced these into my skincare essentials for the purpose of this trip, and I’ve found them to be an exceptional product! After using it, my skin felt soft and nourished, rather than this ‘dry’-clean feeling. Note that I did pick the ‘gentle’ pads which I’ve checked has no alcohol in it.
SERUM & MOISTURIZER
This is one of my newfound essentials I am in LOVE with! It keeps my skin bouncy, plump, and hydrated - perfect introduction for my long-haul flight! Plus, the bottles are 30ml which is great as travel companions.
I usually have two separate moisturizers for day and night. For the purpose of the flight, I’m actually only bringing my day cream - Atomy aqua cream. However, I’ve also found these Hydro Boost pods by Neutrogena and CANNOT wait to try them in-flight. They are the perfect travel-size, indeed! I’ve previously used Neutrogena’s products and hadn’t any skin reactions, and I’ve checked that there is no alcohol in this cream mask. So, win-win!
SHEET MASK - EYE CREAM - SPF - LIP CARE
I’ve tested out this mask a few months ago and a big fan! The best thing about sheet masks is if you don’t have space for a separate serum bottle with you for travelling, you can always bring a sheet mask along and use the serum there.
As like my moisturizers, I have two separate eye creams for day and night. However, for the purpose of the flight, I will only bring my day as it is hydration-focused. It also has the metal magnetic applicator, I’m hoping it can help reduce any major puffiness of my eyes from being in high-altitudes for long hours!
I’ve recently discovered and tried out this sunscreen and found it truly skincare-compatible, as it has a dry touch and does not leave any white nor shiny sheen on the face. Definitely one I needed for this trip, especially to Malaysia!
Carmex is my one and only.
This is a little touch of luxury, but one that I am obsessed with. The spray of this face mist literally feels as though I am putting my face into soft cotton. As it is pure, thermal spring water, there are no other ingredients that could cause any irritation or oily/sticky residual feeling.
And these are my Travel Skincare Essentials, and How I Avoid the Airline Toilet!!!
